A window shutter consists of an outside frame and single or multiple shutter doors with adjustable slats. The slats are linked by a tilt rod for control and more than one can be specified giving independent control over upper and lower slats. Doors over 170 cms tall would normally have a central bar (midrail) joining the two sides for stability and in this instance the tilts would be split as, for instance , in bi fold doors.
Tilts can be surface mounted on the face of the door, on the reverse or hidden within the door frame. Shutters are usually fitted within the revels inset from the window to clear any handles or vents or may be surface mounted on the wall to frame the window opening.

Tilts, Slats & Customisation Options
Our shutters are built with a strong outer frame and single or multiple shutter doors, featuring adjustable slats linked by a tilt rod. For added flexibility, multiple tilt rods can be specified, allowing you to control the upper and lower slats independently.
Tilt Rod Options:

Shutter Doors over 170cm tall
For shutter doors over 170cm tall, a midrail (central bar) is included for stability, ensuring long-lasting durability. In this case, the tilt rods can be split, providing separate control for the upper and lower slats, which is especially useful for bi-fold doors.
Shutter Slat Depths
Our shutter slats (also called louvres) come in three depth options to suit different preferences:
63mm Slats – Traditional, offering a classic look.
76mm Slats – A balance between traditional and modern, allowing more light through.
89mm Slats – Contemporary and minimalist, maximising natural light.
Light-Reducing Slats – Ideal for rooms where a darker atmosphere is preferred (please note, this is not a blackout product).
How Are Shutters Fitted?
Shutters can be fitted within the window recess (reveal) to clear any handles or vents, ensuring a seamless, flush finish. Alternatively, they can be surface-mounted on the wall, framing the window opening for a more prominent aesthetic.
